Facing the challenge of revamping all its e-commerce fronts and with the goal of enhancing operations and providing agility, Samsung chose Corebiz to develop its e-commerce platform through VTEX.
About Samsung
With a vast product portfolio, Samsung sells everything from smartphones to televisions and laptops, in addition to consumer electronics like refrigerators, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, and air conditioners. The project aimed to create a robust, customizable, and scalable platform that could handle the diverse portfolio and high demand from consumers. It also expanded the brand’s presence across various marketplaces and allowed third-party sellers to connect to the sales structure, uniting both online and offline operations.
In Brazil and other Latin American countries, Samsung operates through a complex network of partners, with sales happening via indirect channels and its own e-commerce. This scenario posed a greater challenge in managing partnerships and resellers.
The Challenge
The electronics multinational, Samsung, faced the challenge of revamping all its e-commerce fronts. Aiming to enhance operations and provide agility, the company decided to hire Corebiz to develop its e-commerce front through the VTEX platform.
Corebiz Solution
Customization and Implementation of E-commerce
Argentina was the first country to implement the e-commerce project with Corebiz. Following its success in this initial phase, Samsung decided to expand the scope and replicate the project across major operations in the region, including Peru, Chile, and Colombia.
The project was later implemented in Brazil, where it established supplier integration, tested and validated business models, and allowed the brand to expand its presence across more distribution channels in Brazil, including selling on major B2W retail marketplaces like Submarino, Americanas, and Shoptime.
The project also involved collaboration with Synapcom, which managed Samsung’s fulfillment activities in Latin America, and Samsung SDS, the brand’s IT division responsible for maintaining the company’s IT infrastructure in the region.
Smart Checkout Technology
One of the project’s key innovations was the implementation of Smart Checkout, a feature that internally “reserves” the product in stock until the customer completes the purchase, reducing checkout process issues and ensuring more sales. Another advantage was the ease of creating promotions and new campaigns.
- Trade-in programs: Offering the option to present a used Samsung product as part of the payment for a new one, like smartphones.
- Installation services: Selling installation services for products like washing machines or air conditioners, enabled by the service module linked to VTEX.
- Insurance sales: Offering extended warranties and coverage against theft and burglary.
- Split payments: Allowing payments from two different sources, including Mercado Pago as a partner in Brazil or splitting payments across two credit cards.
- Samsung Pay adoption: Samsung’s digital payment option available for customers to finalize purchases.
Result of a Global Project
With a team of specialists experienced in international projects, we created a unique IT structure to increase control and security across operations while standardizing services across the countries served.
We ensured integration with key operational services like ERP, allowing secure storage of information and commercial policies. Each supplier has access to a distinct environment according to their area of operation, with access restricted to information relevant to their business.
This was made possible by adopting a franchise account model for partners operating in various markets, providing a standardized product catalog tailored to each context, all managed centrally by Samsung. By personalizing and customizing the e-commerce platform, we established a consistent visual standard aligned with the Samsung brand, ensuring a uniform design and customer experience across all markets in the region.
